When I read this book, I quickly realized that I was a "textbook" case. I had suffered from classic adrenal fatigue since 1989 when I became very exhausted and it never lifted. Then I suffered many related symptoms of adrenal fatigue which Wilson describes so clearly in the book.
I have to say that the first benefit of this book was to realize that here was a doctor who understood me. I wasn’t crazy and this is a known syndrome. That, right away, removed 50% of the suffering (which was the psychological component of not knowing what was going on.)
The rest took a while and involved actually implementing the many recommendations Dr. Wilson makes. Warning: It isn’t 3-easy steps! If you have adrenal fatigue and want to get well it will take focus and commitment. And Dr. Wilson states that fact directly.
For those who are skeptical about the existence of adrenal fatigue, there is a lab test called the ACTH-Stimulation test which, in my case, positively confirmed the my adrenals were unresponsive to the pituitary signal of ACTH.
The number one key was to make Dr. Wilson’s recommended lifestyle changes by changing my apply-more-pressure orientation to life. I had to learn to stop motivating myself through fear, anxiety and pressure and, instead, learn to have more orientation towards the simple pleasures in life. This took away a great deal of the stress which was preventing me from healing my adrenals. There were also many dietary, exercise and sleep changes I had to make.
Next, the nutritional supplement recommendations were tremendously helpful, in particular Siberian ginseng, ashwaganda, and licorice. Here are the two products I used which were formulated according to the author’s recommendations in the book itself.
This is an incredibly informative and reader-friendly book about a common debilitating medical condition that goes largely undiagnosed and untreated. ADRENAL FATIGUE: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome is a very empowering work cram-packed with vital information about a condition that very likely affects millions of people. Author Dr. James L. Wilson gives us both the bad news and the good news about this situation. The bad news is how this illness is devastating so many lives, how so many people are being left without hope, and why traditional (allopathic) medicine has failed to recognize or remedy this tragedy. The good news is that this condition can be diagnosed, can be treated, and that there is hope. And Wilson ought to know. With 3 doctorate and two masters degrees all from different disciplines (including Human Nutrition, Naturopathic Medicine, and Bio/Nutrition), Wilson lectures extensively to physicians and is an internationally acknowledged expert on alternative, holistic approaches to health. Supporting Wilsons claims about adrenal fatigue are his 25 years of clinical practice and a depth and breadth of research based on over 2400 scientific references. But dont be daunted by the academic and scientific pedigree of the author; this book is a very easy readdeceptively so for the quality and import of the material.
The book opens with an overview of the function of the adrenals, and how they are prone to chronic fatigue given our hyper-stressed contemporary lifestyles. This is followed by a section on how to tell if you have adrenal fatigue, which includes a questionnaire, several simple at-home diagnostic tests that you can perform yourself, as well as thorough information on the availability (and usefulness) of different laboratory tests. The Ghost in My Brain: How a Concussion Stole My Life and How the New Science of Brain Plasticity Helped Me Get It Back MP3 CD – Audiobook, MP3 Audio, Unabridged
Author: Clark Elliott Ph.D. ID: 1501230417
Review
“This is a remarkable document, by a remarkable person, the most meticulous and informative account I have ever read of the effects of a traumatic brain injury on a single mind. It should be mined for years to come by all who care about the subject, and is filled with almost Proustian detail about how the brain and mind and heart respond to injury. It would have been just another tragedy, but instead, it turns into an exciting triumph, because of the tireless, ingenious, and utterly creative work of Clark Elliott and his healers—one inspired by the work of the Israeli pioneer, Reuven Feurstein, the other by a little known tradition of neuro-optometric rehabilitation, which can literally use light shone into the eyes, to treat and rewire the brain.”—Norman Doidge, M.D., New York Times bestselling author of The Brain That Changes Itself and The Brain’s Way of Healing
“For anyone who has struggled to explain cognition or to understand what it feels like to suffer from traumatic brain injury, Clark Elliott’s fascinating account of his injury, diagnosis and then painstaking determination to heal himself reads like a how-to manual of how our brains work . . . His story gives hope to everyone out there and shines a light on the neuroplastic possibilities that exist for us all in the future.”—Bob Woodruff, ABC-TV News correspondent and Lee Woodruff, authors of In an Instant
“Elliott’s transformative tale will be invaluable for patients with traumatic brain injury, families, and caregivers.”—Publishers Weekly
“Up-close view of living with the harrowing effects of a concussion… With concussions from sports injuries making the news, Elliott’s easy-to-read account of his experiences is a valuable contribution to a better understanding of the condition.”—Kirkus
“It is not often that one can gain some genuine insight into the soul-destroying and debilitating experiential world of victims of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI). But through the brilliant descriptions that Clark Elliott provides, we can at least begin to grasp its devastating perceptual, cognitive, and behavioral consequences—its profound disruption of every aspect of normal daily life, of thinking and deciding, feeling and wanting, seeing and hearing, moving, and of our very sense of who we are. This is an extraordinary book about the brain and the mind—a book that is hard to stop reading.”—Andrew Ortony, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Psychology, Computer Science, and Education, Northwestern University
“Inspiring . . . Read it, first weep, then smile broadly!”—Daniel Federman, Dean Emeritus, Harvard School of Medical Education, and past president of the American College of Physicians
“A must-read for anyone in emergency medicine, trauma care, neurology, and primary care, as well as concussion sufferers and their families.”—Ted C. Shieh, clinical instructor in emergency medicine, RUSH Medical College; chairman of emergency medicine and immediate care, DuPage Medical Group
“I have diagnosed more than six hundred mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) cases over thirty years of practice and know firsthand the devastating effects they can have on virtually any family. Dr. Clark Elliott’s comprehensive and creative analysis of this pathological epidemic is uniquely insightful, accurate, scary—and most importantly encouraging—for those who are afflicted with this disorder.”—Michael P. Szatalowicz, D.C., A.O., whiplash trauma specialist

Many people keep diaries of their illnesses. An articulate and conscientious diarist stricken with an odd condition can be fascinating and insightful. After Clark Elliott, an artificial intelligence researcher at DePaul University in Chicago, suffered a traumatic brain injury in 1999, he kept a detailed journal of his mental impairment and his efforts to cope. He functioned in his job and social life with great difficulty, sometimes not at all, for 8 years before finding relief through neuro-optometric rehabilitation and cognitive restructuring therapy. His meticulous documentation allowed him to write "The Ghost In My Brain" to help others understand how the thoughts and life of a person with traumatic brain injury function -or don’t function- and to share his remarkable recovery. His road to recovery was not short. It took years of work with optometrist Deborah Zelinsky and neurocognitive learning specialist Donalee Markus, before he could function near his pre-accident level.
Elliott presents his story in four parts. In the first, he describes the consequences of his 1999 car accident, in which he was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight and came away with a brain injury that would dramatically alter his way of life. He describes the symptoms of his brain injury, in detail, in ten chapters in Part 2. We get a sense of what specific impairments he suffered and the bizarre manner in which his damaged brain tried to function.
The Ghost in My Brain is a thoughtful look into the debilitating affects a brain injury can cause a person of even great intellect. I found this book at times frustrating, emotional and thought-provoking.
It can basically be broken into two parts.
The emotional story. One in which the author expresses in great detail the turmoil he experienced as he suffered trying to do daily activities we all take for granted. It also demonstrates how modern medicine seems to coldly dismiss those who are deemed healthy because they cannot find any real physical evidence of it of a physical problem. Although the author appeared healthy after his car accident. He struggled to do the most basic things such as walk down stairs or drive home from work. He was not malingering (pretending to be sick), Yet in the many visits he made to doctors, they dismissed his concerns and did not take the time to look deeper. Sad and discouraging.
The second part of the book which I found far more intriguing was how he finally did find help and the process or new science of brain plasticity. It shows that there is more out there which is unexplored. I enjoyed reading about brain plasticity. How we can re-learn how to function by creating new neural connections even when we are older. I wish this could have been explained a bit more. Although the author does try to explain, it was more through his experiences but not as much the theories behind it.
This book will give hope to those seeking answers to changes they have experienced post brain injuries and help others suffering with them understand/sympathize with the debilitating affects they can cause. Just reading about the difficulties the author experienced driving home were frustrating and agonizing for me.

I enjoyed all his books, I have read all published books to date (Books 1-11) I say keep reading, even though sometimes Jordan rambles on, and such, even what some say is a Average/Poor book from his. It still is head and shoulders about all written Series save a hand full on equal par. HOWEVER, I DO HAVE VERY BAD NEWS, BUT ALSO GREAT NEW FOR WHEEL OF TIME READERS, AT LEAST WITH REGARDS TO HIS FINAL BOOK #12. Please read the following passage all readers need to know both bits of information.
Robert Jordan (this is his publishing name, not his real)….his real name is JAMES OLIVER RIGNEY, JR. Here is a link so you can read it all([…]). James Rigney (aka Robert Jordan) passed away in September of 2007 (last fall)….however there is still good news for all the readers. The whole staff and editors have the notes and spoken ideas Jordan left while in the hospital the last few days before he passed on. The Book will be named A Memory of Light! The family and editors have hired a Fantasy writer to finish the Series and last book. This Writer (Brandon Sanderson) was a personal friend, and was mentored by Jordan too over the years. He will also have Robert Jordan’s wife… Harriet.. helping (she edited and helped on all the books with him). They say on their web-site that they are shooting for Late Fall or Early winter (Sept-Nov) in 2009 to have the last book in the Wheel of Time Series on the shelf. This will be called as I said Memory of Light and will be book 12 and will finish the Wheel of Time. This is what they our saying at least, and they know the book might be BIG, and very hard to get all plots and everything in place…… so the Last Battle can be fought….but they will do it, so they say. I hope this review is helpful, as this is the whole reason I am taking the time to write this. I did receive an advanced copy of this book, through another website, and am sharing my review on here as well.
Let me start by saying I have read many different diet books, and this is in the top tier of them. Its informative and easy to follow. Basically, DR. Phil doesn’t just tell you what to do and what results to expect, but he goes into detail on why. For me, understanding the reason behind things makes it easier for me to motivate myself. After reading this book, I shy away from less healthy foods simply because I can envision the damage they are doing to my body, and not just because I know they are "bad".
The major purpose of the book is to identify the foods your body needs to "fuel" itself properly. Basically, how to put super unleaded in your car, instead of cheap gas that overtime will break down the system. This is done in 3 phases.
Phases:
These 3 phases are two 5 day and then followed up by a 20 day.
Phase 1 (days 1-5): "Boost" – You eat every 4 hours, increIDg metabolism, with basic foods.
Phase 2 (days 6-10): "Sustain" – Same pace, but now adding in more diversity of foods.
Phase 3 (days 11-30): "Attain" – Same pace, but by now all foods have been added in.
Foods:
The approach to food is simple. Dr. Phil knows that we simply can not eliminate foods forever. So what he does is just have you "put them off" for amounts of time. This allows you the comfort of knowing you will eventually have that piece of cake or other goodie you love.
THE 20/20 DIET is a comprehensive guide to using the latest scientific research to plan your own personal strategy for success in losing weight. Dr Phil explains why other diets fail. He calls these blunders the "Seven Ugly Truths" about dieting. For example, diets often leave you feeling hungry. So guess what–you eat a lot. As another example, diets make you feel restricted in what you can eat–causing you to "rebel" against the diet.
Once we understand WHY diets don’t usually work, we can use the latest scientific studies to help chart our own program. The 20/20 Plan is a combination of sensible exercise with some very special foods–Dr Phil calls these the "20/20" foods.
The foods in the 20/20 Diet are (naturally) called "20/20 Foods." They are selected because they tend to increase your metabolism–that’s called the body’s "thermogenesis." Secondly, these foods tend to "help you feel fuller when you eat them so that you feel satisfied." Finally, these foods have a "time-release" effect. That is, the full feeling lasts a longer time than with other foods.
The 20/20 Diet plan is actually in three Phases:
+ PHASE I THE 5 DAY BOOST: Allow your body to adjust to the new dietary balance. This gets you going in the right direction, and is mostly a learning phase, so you can better understand your body’s signals about hunger versus habit.
+ PHASE II THE 5 DAY SUSTAIN: Builds on the success of the first phase by adding some more 20/20 foods to the mix. This phase also emphasizes the "30-Second Burn Burst" exercise program.
+ PHASE III THE 20 DAY ATTAIN: In this phase your goal is to maintain the steady weight loss, and even add some dining out occasions. Download The 20/20 Diet: Turn Your Weight Loss Vision Into Reality – January 6, 2015 PDF Free Download

There was no software to get the data files to even begin to work on this. I could not even purchase an access code from Cengage. I feel that if your going to pay for a text book, then an access code or software should be included. It was a waste of money on my part.
There were supposed to be audio files or at least a link to get them and there was no such thing. When I looked online for them, it said the audio files are not available. The book is pretty useless without them. Download Medical Transcription Projects 1st Edition Epub Download

Roy Hobbs, the protagonist of The Natural, makes the mistake of pronouncing aloud his dream: to be the best there ever was. Such hubris, of course, invites divine intervention, but the brilliance of Bernard Malamud’s novel is the second chance it offers its hero, elevating him–and his story–into the realm of myth.

In his 1952 novel, Bernard Malamud comments on the role of the hero in the modern world. In order to do so, he parallels Roy, the baseball natural and protagonist, with Percival the Arthurian knight. Roy is on a quest to join the game of baseball at the beginning of the novel. His first failure comes when he answers Harriet Bird’s question wrong. When asked what he wants to become as a ballplayer, Roy can think of nothing more than personal gain. By inserting this in his book Malamud implies that many stars are in the game only for themselves. This refers to Percival asking the Fisher King the wrong question and being turned away. After a lapse of about fifteen years, Roy tries again to make it big in the pros. He joins a team called the New York Knights, an obvious relation to Arthurian legend, with the team coach Pop Fisher. Pop not only serves as a parent figure for Roy but he also resembles the Fisher King in the tale of Percival. Roy, who started out as a pitcher and is now a slugger, a reference to Babe Ruth, has made his own bat and dubbed it "Wonderboy". Roy’s hitting is unbelievable while using this bat and he quickly becomes the league slugger. Percival, much like Roy, created his own lance with which to do battle. As Roy continues to increase in popularity, he is confronted with a wish from a dying lad at a hospital. His father asks Roy to hit a home run for his son because that is the only way his son will survive. Roy accepts this challenge and does in fact knock one out of the park for the boy and in doing so saving him. This alludes to Babe Ruth hitting a home run for the same reason. Malamud inserts this into his novel to show that even though most ballplayers are playing for personal gain, some also try to give back to the supporters. Download The Natural – July 7, 2003 PDF
